Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

Haven’t had it long enough to say anything about its durability, but the fabric has a good weight to it (thicker than a bathing suit), and it fits well. The color is fun, and my son is very happy with it. We got the shortsleeved shirt in the same color.
