Gloves

No more frozen fingers, no more numb hands with SwimOutlet's women's wetsuit gloves!

Whether canoeing, diving, kayaking, surfing, water skiing, and the water temperature is from 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) to 54 degrees Fahrenheit (12 degrees Celsius), you know it's time to put on wetsuit gloves.

Protect your hands from the harsh cold elements and stay in the water longer with SwimOutlet's women's surf gloves and women's scuba neoprene gloves,

As you maneuver your scuba gear through the cold water for diving or snorkeling, your well-protected nimble hands can still take those awesome Instagrammable photos with your underwater camera because you're wearing the right scuba gloves, scuba booties, wetsuit, and wetsuit hood for you!

What thick wetsuit gloves do I need?

It depends on what type of watersport you're in and the water conditions in the area. Generally, the thicker the glove, the more protection your hands have against the cold. Unfortunately, the thicker the glove, the less flexible it is to move your fingers around, too. So your choice comes down to arriving at a comfortable balance between dexterity and protection from the cold.

Wetsuit gloves come in 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 7mm thicknesses. If you plan to canoe, dive, kayak, surf, or water ski in extreme water conditions (below 70 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 degrees Celsius), choose the 7mm thick gloves. A general guide would be:

  • 65F/19C water temperature, go for an optional 3mm glove

  • 60F/15C water temperature, go for a 3mm glove

  • 52F/12C water temperature, go for a 3mm to 5mm glove

  • 48F/9C water temperature, go for a 5mm glove

  • 40F/5C water temperature and below, go for a 7mm glove

Do wetsuit gloves go over or under?

Like wetsuit booties, wetsuit gloves go under the wetsuit when worn so they don't fill up with water. The wrist cuff of your wetsuit should be overlapping the top of your wetsuit glove by 3-4 inches.

What women’s wetsuit gloves should I buy?

Aside from thickness, consider also the material the wetsuit gloves are made of, how much grip they provide, and the right fit for you.

Typically, wetsuit gloves are of the same material as wetsuits, and the best recommended material is neoprene. Neoprene helps trap heat to keep your fingers and hands warm so they remain dexterous even in cold water.

Look for dedicated grip areas across the palm area of the wetsuit glove.

To ensure the right fit, first get your hand's measurements before shopping for your women's wetsuit gloves. Using a cloth tape measure, size up your hand length from the bottom of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Then, measure your hand circumference by placing the cloth tape measure around the widest point of your palm.

Compare your hand measurements with any wetsuit gloves size chart freely available online.

Why did I get gloves with my wetsuit?

Most wetsuits come with cotton gloves. They are for your use when putting on your wetsuit so your nails won't dig into the wetsuit material and cause scratches or punctures. But they are not wetsuit gloves yet.

Wetsuit gloves are highly specialized accessories custom-designed to keep your hands protected in cold water conditions, while keeping them flexible.

Are wetsuit gloves any good?

To protect your hands and fingers in cold water conditions, yes. Without wetsuit gloves, prolonged exposure to cold temperatures makes your hands and fingers numb, or worse, painful. They will decrease your range of motion and you won't be able to do much in your water sport at all.
