Business partners, Robin Chesnie and Rick Rickman, have been associated with surfing and exercise for decades. Robin's son, a competitive surfer, helped hone her knowledge of surfing, but never convinced her to take up the sport herself. Rick began long boarding after one of his photographic subjects insisted he wouldn't be allowed to photograph him until he learned to surf. This requirement changed Rick's life for the better and positioned him to be an authority on the surfing lifestyles. It wasn't until Rick and Robin met through an online dating service that Robin developed an interest in surfing after Rick's enthusiasm for the sport convinced her to try it. Robin's newfound interest in surfing gave birth to the idea of SlipIns.
Robin is cold water sensitive and always wears a heavy wetsuit. The struggles of getting in and out of that heavy, cumbersome wetsuit almost brought her to tears on a few occasions and she almost quit surfing altogether. She watched carefully as other women struggled with the same issues and her creativity kicked into high gear. Two weeks later she called Rick and shared her idea that she felt was going to make women's surfing better. In 2013 SurfSkins was born.
A month later, Rick was talking with a friend, who was also a well-respected physical therapist and personal trainer. The two were having a discussion about SurfSkins when his friend suggested creating a similar product for exercising. Tight fitting garments that are designed to support musculature allow for longer and more efficient exercise regimens that truly benefit the human body. After sharing this idea with Robin, Gymskins was born.
SlipIns lives in the heart of the surfing and exercise mecca in Southern California and for that reason, is perfectly positioned to be in tune with all the activities that these garments are ideally suited for. SlipIns are bold, beautifully designed, sexy creations that will enhance your exercise lifestyle in fun and useful ways. They protect from sun with a 60+ SPF rating and support your musculature for more successful and effective exercise sessions. Not to mention they are all about fashion, fun, and function.
