Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

Fits our 6 yo much better. I recommend torso or "loop" measurements into the sizing charts as this would have been better for our situation as I had to return the 22Y.
