Going by the size chart, I ordered a large although my usual size is medium, based on my 39 inch hip measurement. It fit well in the butt and legs but the waistband was loose. It still stayed on while I swam, but it was slightly annoying. I could have sized down but I don’t like that area to feel squashed.
