The Gilroy Gators Swim Team (GGST) was founded in 1970 as a competitive age group swimming program within Gilroy''''''''s Parks and Recreation Department. In 1981 the team was incorporated as a non-profit corporation "to promote and encourage grade school and high school children to compete in swimming athletics for their own athletic and educational advancement."
