Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

Really like these, great fabric and color, however all board shorts including hybrid styles should be made only with a fully adjustable waistband (360 inner ties out to the front for a full adjustability to accommodate size fluctuations e.g. 36/38/40 as an example) otherwise a great pair of shorts !
