I returned to the pool after decades of not having time to swim. I found that my old face didn't have the same fat in it anymore to comfortably wear racing googles without a bit of pain when taking them off, and the indentation around my eyes took days to recover. These Sporty HydroEdge googles have solved those issues for me. The sealing surface is larger and sits on the outside of my eye socket where it is more comfortable. They provide plenty of visibility, almost as much as my race googles. The seal is as tight, on my face, as race googles. That being said, I can cause a minor leak if I scrunch up my face during a kick turn. This happens to me in racing googles too, so I'm not criticizing it, just letting you know. The leak I'm mentioning does not cause me to stop and clear my googles, it's just a tickle that I can ignore. My one criticism is the strap, unlike racing googles, with the rubber band, these have a molded strap with ratchet steps for positioning. The length doesn't stay where you put it when they are off of your head. To adjust them you put them on and then pull the strap to the desired tightness. Once you figure this out, it's no big deal, just different. Alternatively, I could put an aftermarket strap on them that acts like a rubber band. Conclusion: I love these googles for the comfort and clarity. I'm getting use to the strap. I've recommended them to everyone at my club.
