Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

I bought 2 of these for my kids that are playing water polo this season. Girl (10yrs) and boy (9yrs.) I ordered them big but they don’t look too big on them. The youth large fits me perfectly (5’6” 136lbs) but still looks great on them. The fleece is so soft and there are so many great pockets! Definitely recommend! Great price too when compared with similar products on Amazon and in stores.
