Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

I’m 5’ 7, 156 lbs and bought a large. I have a bit of a butt so its hugs my butt cheeks, and you can tell it’s obviously a little tight at the buttcheeks where it stops, and creates a slight line on your butt. But they fit me in the hips perfectly and are great quality.
