I use this bootie when I row a single rowing shell in the San Francisco Bay, it is warm, safe, and has very good traction when getting into the shell, a very nice product. The size is near perfect, I got a half size larger, because it is easier to get on and off.

The sole is nice and thin. Which is great if you want to feel your board, not great if you want to protect your feet from sharp rocks, oysters, clams, etc - ie what's your local beach like? These would be great if yours is mainly sand. Don't even remember getting cut through them. They protected me, but they've now been substantially damaged, and this is only the third or fourth day out. Will be replacing with something with a stronger sole.
