  • 8/18/2017 I love these!!!

    5 Review Stars By DeanT

I was curious about these, and when I read that they added buoyancy, I thought that it would be nice to not mess with pull buoys. They sure work! I use them for lap swimming, and took 10 seconds off my 100 yard average pace. After reading the reviews about them being small and tight, I decided to order a large, even though I have a 32" waist and 34" hips. They fit PERFECT. And contrary to some of the reviews, the drawstring is plenty long. I also own a wetsuit, and I HATE putting that damn thing on or off. For future triathlons, I'm planning to use these TYR bottoms, and a DeSoto speed vest, for wet suit races, and ease of transitions (and potty!!!) TYR are you listening??? PLEASE add a matching swim vest to your product line for triathletes!

  • 12/25/2016 Pool buoy no longer needed!

    5 Review Stars By BC

Originally ordered a small and the fit was too tight. Think the size chart was off at the small end of the scale.  Medium was perfect.  The performance is great and adds considerable buoyancy for drills. This was suggested by my tri-coach and it helps.  Gonna try not to wear it to all my practices since it will spoil you, like other water toys!

  • 7/17/2018 Mine ripped and the drawstring grommet part is very cheap

1 Review Stars By Nicholas C

I don’t get the positive reviews on these shorts. First of all they will fill with water when you push off the wall.  The reason is because TYR seriously skimped on the drawstring its short in length  and thinner (that’s right I said thinner) than an avg shoelace.  The grommet for the drawstring is small and cheap.  Mine broke almost right away.  Also the skin of the neoprene is very thin  mine ripped and I had to repair it with aqua seal.   They ripped because I was pulling them up after they slid down following a wall kick. I’ve owned the same silicone cap without a rip for two years. I know how to handle these materials without ripping them. It’s just thin skinned fragile neoprene.   I paid 70 bucks for mine. I would not buy again. TYR has also lost some cred with me on these shorts. This company appears to front street branding without any street cred.  They don’t appear to have been critiqued by anyone who swims.  Who would put a small drawstring on a fabric that’s bulky by nature and needs to be close fitting to the waist?   Also I see they are now on sale for 55 dollars.  Prob because they are junk.  I’d rather spend 80 on a pair that have been swim tested by a real swimmer and that last from good care.

I love these shorts.  They are great in warmer waters where a full wetsuit is not allowed.

  • 12/15/2020 Great buoyancy!

    4 Review Stars By CoachBobG53

I shaved about 5 seconds off my 100 yard swim!
My only complaint is that the grommets pull away from the suit.
And I knew before I bought [OPENBRK]from reviews[CLOSEBRK] to go up one size.

About This Brand

Founded in Southern California in 1985, TYR™ has since developed a reputation for high-quality products and equipment. TYR competition swimwear and triathlon gear have been a dominant force in their respective industries. The company is also known for its TYR goggles, swim apparel, triathlon wetsuits and a wide variety of swimming equipment.

TYR was the first company to introduce a pair of goggles designed to fit a woman's face (the TYR T-72). TYR was also responsible for the famous red bathing suits featured on the hit television series "Baywatch." TYR consults with current and former athletes when developing its products. Swimmers know that TYR is a leader in swimsuits, warm-up suits, and swim training equipment. The TYR Tracer Series is one of the most advanced technical suit lines on the market. The TYR Hurricane wetsuits and the TYR Torque collections include top-of-the-line suits for the competitive swimmer.

TYR has also moved into competitive running equipment. From running shirts to shorts, its apparel is designed with the runner in mind. Built with moisture wicking fabric and antimicrobial material, TYR running apparel is designed to give the athlete the most comfortable, dry clothing on the market.

The name "TYR" is derived from the Norse god of warriors, who is said to have embodied victory and glory. Much the same can be said about the athletes who started TYR. Executive Vice President, Steve Furniss, was an Olympian who competed in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Games, and captained the 76th U.S. Olympic Swim Team.
