Watermen Men's Guard Mainstay Board Short

I needed guard shorts and did not want the elastic waste provided by many other brands. I considered a hybrid (elastic only in the back) but after much research opted for these Watermen shorts (no elastic). Sizing was vexing me. The shorts are offered in a 32 or 34 and I am a 33 in everything - pants to underwear to my other board shorts. After calling the company I opted for the 32 as the size chart and customer service suggest. While dry they fit just right down on my hips (below my hip bones/love handles). When they get wet they loosen up so the 34s would have been way too big for actual swimming.
