I can't speak to its longevity yet because I've only had it a couple of weeks, and I only swim occasionally for recreation right now. But the material is nice and soft but feels firm (not flimsy, despite its relative thinness). I do worry a little about how pool surfaces will wear on the buttocks area from sitting or leaning against the sides of the pool, but I don't see any damage yet. So far, nothing that I don't like about it. As for fit, my measurements put me in a 34 for the chest, and a 32 for the hips, so I went with the 34. It fits perfectly for active swimming and laps: tight at the chest so no gaping as you push through the water, and tight enough on the legs/buttocks without being constricting. If I get another one of these, I'll go again with the 34. If you're not using it for laps and you're not accustomed to the tightness of racing suits, maybe size up one as customer service recommends? But for me, it fit right on the size chart.
