Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

I measured my head to make sure I ordered the correct size and I was right in middle of the range for a size small. When I received this, the cap covered about half of my head and the strap choked me. Did not fit at all!
