The new Fastskin LZR Racer X design combines four crucial performance components: compression, construction, sensitivity, and support, which together create the psychologically important feeling of being fast, which can lead to an actual improvement in performance. This suit is a hybrid of increased core support and compression, which together gives athletes a better feel for the water. In both male and female suits, the Fastskin LZR Racer X is constructed using two fabrics: LZR Racer CompreX and LZR Racer PulseLite. Unique to Speedo, LZR Racer CompreX uses smart-stretch technology to provide compression one-way (horizontally) and stretch the other way (vertically) in the same fabric. It is Speedo’s highest compression fabric and targeted where it’s most needed, i.e. around big muscle groups such as the hips, glutes and quads, whilst also facilitating freedom of movement.
Reducing drag but increasing muscle efficiency. LZR Racer CompreX uses one-way stretch technology, where it stretches vertically, allowing swimmers freedom of movement during their stroke but is resistant to horizontal stretching. This provides high compression and reduces drag while increasing muscle efficiency.
Improving the linkage of the muscular kinetic chain. The support seams enhance the link between muscles of the upper and lower body. They connect major muscles of the thigh, back, and shoulders.
The support seam intersects at the hip bone, allowing rotation, then runs across the lower back with an identifiable 'X' shape. The construction of the seams provides feedback to the swimmer, maintaining a better position in the water and a high-leg kick.
