Never really saw the need for a separate hood when you can get a suit with an attached hood. But for those chilly windy mornings when the water's still warm and you're in a 3/2 it's perfect. The base of the hood lands well below the collar of your suit so no water really gets in during a duck dive etc. It's also easier to turn your head from side to side because the hood goes with your head instead of being locked into the suit. Definitely worth having for a cold water surfer!

The hoodie has a little shorter neck than it appears in photo but is good quality and comfortable

I measured the way the size chart said to but found this to be a bit tight. That having been said, I am NOT using it likely the way it was designed. I use it completely above water for outdoor water aerobics. I do know that neoprene seems to get larger once in the water.....so it might be that the size chart is right and I am just using it in a way that it was not designed for. But....it does keep me warm!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves that it helps him keep warm in the Southern California waters in the winter months. But he complains that the hood makes it "loud" when he surfs. With any turn of the head there is a lot of "friction noise" and it is a distraction from the sound of the waves. He thinks it is best for helping him get out there in the cold water, but then it turns into a great neck warmer. The best thing is that it helps to keep the cold water from creeping down the back of his wetsuit when he is getting into the waves first thing. I wish he would wear it for his whole session and get the full value from the product!!
