  • 10/15/2020 They Fit!

I'm learning how to let my ankles flop, and the weight of these definitely enhances that practice. Glad I bought!

  • 3/25/2012 True to size; Red = women's size 10

    5 Review Stars By Susan

I chose these for two reasons.  First, the Speedo fins were getting terrible reviews...so many people said the top of the speedo fins would tear after only a few weeks.  Second, I asked three people in Masters Swim what they use, and all three have used the TYR CrossBlade fin for a long time with no tearing issues.  I've only used these for four training sessions so far, but no blisters, no tearing, no break-in period.  Also, I read the reviews about the sizing, but no one ever specified if their size 9's were women's or men's.  so, I'm here to tell you that the red crossblades, which I are a large, fit perfect on my women's size 10 foot.  They would fit a 9 and a 9-1/2, but probably not larger than a 10.  Hope that helps.

  • 2/8/2014 Good fins, but ...

3 Review Stars By Jay S.

These are good training fins, but they are sized too small.  The fins work great and if they fit your feet you will like them tremendously.  Unfortunately I am in-between sizes in these fins.  I wear an 11.5 shoe and bought the 11-13 thinking they would work well because of the size going to 13; I was wrong.  The 11-13 is too small for me, but I am afraid the 13-15 will be too big.  I will have to keep looking for some fins that fit better.

The fin is stiff and gives good propulsion.  The sizes are larger than the Tyr Crossblades I had before.  The yellow colored size 7-9 is now too big for me.  Returned them and got the green 5-7 which fit well.

    4 Review Stars By Tyrnnca

I have been using these fins for about a year and a half or so.  They replaced a set of longer-bladed Speedo fins I had, which eventually broke and had to be thrown away.  I'm pretty happy with these fins.  They're sturdy yet flexible enough.  And the shorter blade provides for a stronger, more intense work-out.
After my favorite fins died, I tried a couple different fins (they were Speedo fins) but found that they were so heavy and stiff on my feet that the arches in my feet (especially my right foot) would cramp up immediately during use in the water.  I couldn't go one length of the pool without my arches cramping. Since I have a hard time with my cramping arches, I struggled with finding a fin that minimized cramping and provided a good workout at the same time.  I finally tried these fins and have been happy with the results.  Although my arches cramp up on occasion, it's nothing like it was with the two previous replacement fins.  And they cramp up about as often in these fins as they did in my favorite fins that died.
One thing I did do when I purchased these TYR fins was purchase the TYR soft booties.   They're wonderful for preventing blisters (if you're prone to getting blisters).  I've tried the fins with and without the booties.  When I'm using the fins without, I blister the majority of the time.  Not all the time, but the majority of the time.  So, now I just always use the booties with the fins.
The booties are the reason I gave a 4 out of 5 rating.  If I didn't have to use the booties, it'd be a 5 out of 5.
Now, about sizing.  To me, they ran true to size.  I wear a woman's 8.5/9, depending on shoes.  So I ordered the yellow fin (7-9).  Even when wearing the booties, my feet are comfortable in the fins; they don't feel too tight.
Lastly, I feel the price for these fins is a good price.  The two replacement fins I tried prior to purchasing these were much more in cost, and were absolutely uncomfortable!  (They made my fin section of swimming miserable, and I couldn't wait to get them off!)  These are $20 and some change, and have been a dependable fin (so far).  If these fins died, I would replace them with another set of the same fins.
So, in summary, you can't go wrong with these fins, especially for the price!  I would recommend the booties to go with the fins, just in case.  Glad I got them.

    1 Review Stars By Kelly

I have used this brand and style for years now.  I just order a new pair.  The new fins are very stiff and larger--these have always been a perfect fit for me.  They used to fit snug...now I have a gap.  I put them on and noticed the difference immediately.

4 Review Stars By Swim Mom

This would have been our second pair of these fins.  My son had seriously outgrown the red pair.  He wears a size 13 shoe, so we opted for the gray as replacements.  They were HUGE.  His foot is not narrow as he wears a regular width shoe.  Returned the gray pair and will try to order the navy color if they are ever back in stock.
As for performance, we can speak to the red pair.  They never rubbed blisters, but were extremely stiff.  He's currently borrowing a pair from his coach that are a little more flexible, and he prefers that flexibility over the stiffer pair.

  • 4/9/2017 Fin foot size is much larger than the last TYR CrossBlade fins I purchased

    1 Review Stars By Jack

I puchased a pair of these fins about five years ago and I swim at least a mile 4 days a week. I decided it was time for a new pair. They are so much larger that they would fall off my feet on the first or second kick.
