  • Aqua Shift provides a significant reduction in wave and pressure drag through the theoretical and practical application of Tripwires(TM). After studying and dissecting prior research as building blocks, such as the Onera experiment, TYR's group of experts became the first ever to decompose drag. The end result is a dramatic reduction in overall drag and what will be considered as the most hydrodynamically efficient swimsuit on earth. Unheard of in the science world. Unheard of in your world.

Where the progressive, contemporary print meets the Tripwire you can't help but equate their suit with the enigmatic complexity and exploration of Saturn and its rings. Although all of the Tripwires are extremely important, there are three, key Tripwires - one at the top, one on the back and one at the bottom. Aggressive to the eye, they're far from gratuitous. Each one is scientifically placed to catapult you through the water the moment the laminar flow quickly becomes turbulent.

The fabric they use goes through several treatments, such as a thermal heat application that sears it into a silky-smooth water repellent finish. All of the treatments combined will minimize drag and micro-turbulence while enhancing hydrodynamic efficiency and glide time. The fabric's modular strength provides advance compression dynamics for a tight, uniform fit thanks to a high-density power and memory technology that contains body mass while improving muscle performance and recovery.

  • 1/12/2009 Product TYR Aqua Shift Male Zipperback Short John

3 Review Stars By JOSEPH R.

The zipper would be more useful with some kind of pull string. Like in other high priced items. Over all the suite fit o.k. and almost zero drag.
I would not purchase this item again, since I would always need some assistance with the  zipper.

ABOUT THIS BRAND

TYR

Founded in Southern California in 1985, TYR™ has since developed a reputation for high-quality products and equipment. TYR competition swimwear and triathlon gear have been a dominant force in their respective industries. The company is also known for its TYR goggles, swim apparel, triathlon wetsuits and a wide variety of swimming equipment.

TYR was the first company to introduce a pair of goggles designed to fit a woman's face (the TYR T-72). TYR was also responsible for the famous red bathing suits featured on the hit television series "Baywatch." TYR consults with current and former athletes when developing its products. Swimmers know that TYR is a leader in swimsuits, warm-up suits, and swim training equipment. The TYR Tracer Series is one of the most advanced technical suit lines on the market. The TYR Hurricane wetsuits and the TYR Torque collections include top-of-the-line suits for the competitive swimmer.

TYR has also moved into competitive running equipment. From running shirts to shorts, its apparel is designed with the runner in mind. Built with moisture wicking fabric and antimicrobial material, TYR running apparel is designed to give the athlete the most comfortable, dry clothing on the market.

The name "TYR" is derived from the Norse god of warriors, who is said to have embodied victory and glory. Much the same can be said about the athletes who started TYR. Executive Vice President, Steve Furniss, was an Olympian who competed in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Games, and captained the 76th U.S. Olympic Swim Team.
