Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

I swim laps for exercise, and need to lose about 25 lbs. I average about 3-4 hours a week. This fits well enough, it's not a compressive fit like some Tyr suits. The material is a little on the thin side, but it does have some give. I would stay with your pant size, or go up a size for those who aren't super fit. I can't comment on durability, I still rotate this with other suits. I like bright colors, so this works for me.
