  • 2/19/2017 TOO SMALL!!

    3 Review Stars By CiCi

    TO
This product appears to be well made and sturdy.  But I wear an exact women's size 7 and I could barely get my foot into it.  The foot bed is way too short for my foot.

Order a bigger size than your normal shoe!!

  • 1/23/2017 Loving my G4s!

    4 Review Stars By Leijinga

This is my second pair of G4s, and I'm loving them! My chiropracter recommended that I try minimalist shoes, as they are supposed to help your body align itself more naturally. I looked at Vibrams, but my workplace has now banned the "five-finger" type shoes (not to mention you can really hurt yourself if you aren't used to them). I looked at a couple other brands, but I couldn't bring myself to cough up $150 ( or more) a year for shoes that I'll likely ruin at work.  Sockwas fit my budget and came with decent reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try, and I don't want to go back to running shoes ever again! My feet and back doesn't hurt like it used to!

They do run a little small I wear a 6.5/7 normally and I have to get an 8 in Sockwas.

My old pair lasted me over a year before the sole started separating from the shoe. I also tore a hole in the toe of the shoe, but that was my clumsiness and a concrete curb. (It would have happened to a canvas shoe or mesh shoe just as easily.)  This new pair felt a little more snug than I remembered, but they stretch out pretty quickly once I've had them on for a bit.

You get a lot of ground feel with these; you'll know it if you put your foot down on a rock or a stick (or those stupid gumballs from gum trees...). It also took me a while to lighten my footfalls; at first, my heel strike was too heavy with each step, and it was a little uncomfortable. I was so used to having a thick foam sole between my feet and the ground, I didn't realize how hard I was stepping! I find I get a lot of cold transfer up through the shoe as well.  If it's cold or wet, I usually wear my snow/rain boots into work and change shoes once I get inside.  They fit down in my rain boots, but your mileage may vary.  I also like that they are machine washable, which is nice because they can develop a funky smell after a while.

    TLDR:
GOOD: Machine washable, good ground feel, snug fit, improved body alignment
BAD: Funky foot smell, little cold protection, you could bruise your heel if you step very hard (or on something).
MISC: Runs about 1 to 1.5 sizes small.  Will turn heads (I get a lot of questions about them!)

I transitioned to minimalist shoes several years ago. Sockwas are the best of the best. Get one size larger than you normally wear in shoes and it will be perfect..

  • 5/21/2016 I have a love/hate review

    3 Review Stars By kamelka27

These are water socks with a sole. I was thrilled with the way they felt while I wore them. Extremely comfortable!  I would wear them daily just as everyday socks around the house and yard. The exact purpose I purchased them was for working in salt water.  I am a photographer, I photograph people interacting with dolphins. It is a rule to wear water shoes for safety. I literally wore them for ONE DAY in the salt water and the adhesive holding the sole to the sock was cheap adhesive.... And my sole was coming off.  Still pretty upset about that. So were my coworkers, they are wanted them....

5 Review Stars By Mark N.

I bought this shoe to wear in the Bahama's and am glad I did. I got several comments from other people asking about where I got these and everyone loved the way they looked. It does it's job of keeping out sand as long as you're not standing in water that goes over your feet. Just walking through sand it keeps the sand out. When sand and water wash up over your feet it'll still get sand in them but they're very easy to take off and wash out. I loved the fact that there's a flex able but hard bottom. They do take a while to dry off once wet even in the sun. I even stepped on a piece of glass on the beach and they didn't even get cut on the bottom. Glad I had them on or I would've had to have stitches in a foreign hospital. They are very comfortable and cool looking. I will buy several more pairs in different colors. I wear 9&1/2 and the 9's fit perfectly.

  • 7/21/2015 Best SHOE ever

    5 Review Stars By Susanne

Several years ago, due to several foot heath problems that no amount of doctoring or supportive footwear seemed to help, I went "minimalist" in shoes.  I own everything from SoftStar to VivoBarefoot to those silly toe shoes, Vibram FiveFingers.  My favorites, though, are Sockwa.  Basically, what I wanted was just a little protection from the elements and sharp objects, and to be able to use my feet as feet...as Nature intended... without padding or support or heels.  Sockwa does that.  They truly are socks with attitude.  The sole is protective, yet I can still feel the ground for proprioception.  I wear them every day, for shopping, driving, walking, bicycling, and water sports.  If I was a runner, I'd use them for running too.  My feet are stronger and healthier than they have been in many years.  The plastic soles last a very long time, so don't be afraid to wear them on pavement.  And, they are washable.  I turn them inside out, toss them in the washer (with Shoe Wash, to remove any odors) and then air dry.  Perfect.  I own 8 pairs, that's how much I love them.
