The bottom is already shedding the little dots off and I slip on this mat about as much as I did on my $5 yoga mat. The thickness is perfect though.

Love this mat so much. Best grip, thin, durable. The only thing I would complain about would be the smell at first. Other than that, it fades after time and is amazing for deep stretches & your practice.

I am a little cheap when it comes to purchasing yoga mats, mostly because I could spend all the money in the world and still dislike the mat. I set out a quest to read articles and reviews on which yoga mat would be best for me. A friend and local yoga instructor recommended I check out Manduka. After watching a few videos and reading articles about the GRP mat and how it was built for hot yoga and heavy sweating (me in a nutshell) I took a leap of faith and made the purchase. Today was my third time practicing on this mat and I have absolutely no complaints. The mat is grippy on both the top and bottom surface which allows me to really focus on my alignment and balance when getting into the tricky poses. Since the mat is so new, I am a little leary about how to care for it. I didn't want to spend $30+ each month purchasing Manduka's treatment foams and cleaners so I took to google to find an alternate. Today after practice and heavy sweating, I let my mat hang out in the sun. After 20 minutes, I grabbed a bucket and filled it with hot water and a little bit of dawn dish soap. With a sponge used for delicate surfaces, I applied some of the soapy water to the mat, just enough to give it a good cleansing. Then I doused it with a bucket of water to wash away the soap and hung it back out to dry for 30 minutes which so far has done the trick! Overall, great product and worth the money.
