  • 1/25/2021 Not for legs that sink

3 Review Stars By Big Legs

This product will work well for someone who can use the normal pool pull bouy. Does not work for someone with large legs that tend to sink.

  • 10/8/2014 Great Pull Buoy

    5 Review Stars By Sheila

This is the only kind of buoy I will buy. It stays in place and doesn't slip out like the one-piece buoys everyone uses now.  I have pretty thin legs so the other buoys always slip out. This one is nice because it stays in place with little effort.

  • 11/11/2020 Simple, but effective

    4 Review Stars By Heide

The design is pretty basic, but it works.  You just adjust the straps to fit your feet and voila!  An upper body swim workout.

  • 12/21/2013 Still the best

5 Review Stars By Paul O.

7" is the "normal" size.  Still the best.  I'm a lifelong, accomplished swimmer and I grew up with these.  I also bought the newer foam Speedo buoy, but I regret that purchase.  Just not as good of a buoy.

  • 6/25/2020 Great for flip turns

    5 Review Stars By Richard

I split my daily swim workout between kick board with fins (all lower body) and freestyle with pull buoy (all upper body).  This pull buoy, owned by me and not provided by the pool, allows flip turns to expedite things.

  • 6/20/2019 Old School Buoy is the Best

    5 Review Stars By RB

I have been looking for a traditional pull buoy to replace my old funky ones and this was the only merchant that had them. As millions have probably discovered, the sleeker hipster one-piece type is too small, not enough floatation, unstable, requires you to really pinch your legs together and makes your whole lower body tighten up.

These are easily adjustable with sturdy nylon straps and if you rinse them off after every swim, you'll have them for years.

Having a choice of 6,7,8 inch sizes is excellent and not common.

For taller male adults, the 7 inch provides the right amount of flotation.
6 inch would be great for age group teens and shorter women.
8 inch could be too much floatation and very bulky in the legs.

One great use of buoys is as an alternative to a kickboard.

You can drape your hands loosely on top of them with your arms extended and do some great mixing of kicking and pulling. This is especially great in open water where no one wants to bring a kickboard into the middle of a lake and then try to put it between your legs to swim.

Over time they will start to get a bit rough and may cause chafing if you do long pull sets like I do. So I recommend buying two new pair and keep one in the closet for years down the road.

Bravo Swim Outlet for realizing that the tried and true pull buoy is well worth keeping in stock.

I've only used this buoy for a couple of weeks.  What I like about it the width is adjustable to fit you leg shapes.  With this buoy, I find that I can kick if I want.

  • 9/8/2016 Old times are Now times

    5 Review Stars By Sunkissed

I'm nearing 60 and I swam my whole life so believe me when I say that this "old timey" pull buoy IS in my book the BEST!!! I think this one is better fitted for the body and works fantastic in the water. You can easily make it smaller or larger depending on your body plus its lightweight, It's made to last a lifetime and can withstand any weather when used in an outdoor pool and the chlorine too. The price is right and I give it a 5?????????? and "Thumbs up" review to this product!

  • 3/16/2020 I like you can adjust it.

    5 Review Stars By RobInSC

Standard pull buoys have a certain thickness by necessity.   This one is adjustable so I like that. It allows kicking to the extent you want based on your adjustments.

  • 1/31/2017 Sometimes old-style is the best style

    5 Review Stars By shay

I didn't want to risk the new style even though it's prettier. I like not having to focus on slippage or shifting and instead focus on what matters, my stroke, the pull...and this allows me to do so. After reading the reviews on the newer style - I decided to trust what I knew and had and I'm glad I did.
