When Alan Romick founded Headsweats® Perspiration Technology in 1998, he did so after years of being frustrated by things like migrating sunscreen, heavy-sweat blindness and odd sunburn patterns from his helmet. Romick was a shoe-industry veteran and had been a cyclist for years. He was determined to create headwear that actually worked.
Romick used feedback from the cycling community to take the best attributes of what was available and improve upon it. Little did he know that his prototype, Headsweats Classic Race Hat, would quietly become the go-to headwear option for athletes around the world.
Headsweats expanded its line to include over 17 items available in over 140 colors and styles. Soon after, the company's products were seen on athletes winning events such as the Ironman Kona and Charles Regatta. The Headsweats Go Hat, as well as Headsweats CoolMax Classic skullcaps and Headsweats Topless headbands now lead their respective industries in the sports of triathlon, rowing, and adventure-racing. The makers use innovative technology to produce washable, airlight headwear with supreme moisture-wicking capabilities.
Athletes can still purchase the Headsweats Ultralite Hat. They can also try numerous other products in the company's line — products such as the Headsweats Go Hat, the Headsweats Supervisor, the Headsweats Ultralite Hat, or the Headsweats CoolMax Shorty.
