3 Fashion Trends Making Their Way In To Swimwear

March 28, 2017 | By

Regardless of whether you follow the fashion runway scene or not, you have undoubtedly seen 2017’s hottest trends surfacing this spring (unless you’re living under a rock). The fashion world as of late has seen a ton of style influences from the 1990’s (welcome back, Donna Martin), including choker necklaces, bold floral prints, soft tie-dye designs and off-the-shoulder silhouettes. These flashback fashions are everywhere, including the water and sand.

Much like previous years, the fashion trends are beginning to overflow to the swimwear industry—and rightfully so. These are some bikini trends that we are totally on board with (literally and figuratively).

We’ve seen swim sets sold with matching chokers, off-the-shoulder pieces mirroring those on the racks of fashion boutiques and festival-inspired styles made with the bohemian babe in mind. Don’t believe us? Here are a few of our favorite fashion trends making their way in to the fashion swim world.

THE PLUNGING ONE PIECE

You’ve all seen the traditional bodysuit, it’s worn underneath cut-off denim and high-waisted pants by all ages and sizes. It’s plunging, strappy and sexy, and it’s been taking the world by storm since 2016. We all love it.

Well, the swimwear industry caught on. There’s no question that rise of the bodysuit gave life to the reinvented one piece swimsuit. In 2017, we’re seeing one piece swimsuits resembling the fashionable bodysuit with deep, deep v-necklines, backless designs, and lace-up details. One pieces aren’t just for moms anymore!

We love the Tavik Solid Drew One Piece for a sexy take on a traditional onesie, or the Carmen Marc Valvo Lattice Solid High Neck for fun cut-out details. For a combination of both, we recommend the MINKPINK Dark Side One Piece.

Take the bench, bodysuits—2017 is the year of the one piece swimsuit.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER SWIMWEAR

This trend is everywhere, like e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. Between dresses, rompers and tops, everyone is rockin’ off-the-shoulder pieces and your closet likely follows suit. It’s a fashion trend that appeals to everyone, no matter their style, bikini lovers included.
Heading in to summer 2017, we’re starting to see more and more off-the-shoulder swimwear. It’s simple, but super-chic, and we’re swooning over all of the styles.

For a traditional, mod look we’re wearing the Vix Dots Shoulder Bikini Top, and for something more bold and tropical, we love the Seafolly Havana Stripe Cold Shoulder Bandeau Bikini Top.

We’re giving the traditional triangle top the cold shoulder (get it?), and you should, too.

FESTIVAL FRENZY

It’s no secret that spring has (unofficially) been pegged as festival season. For years fashion brands have been targeting music-festival attendees with hippie-chic styles and rock-n-roll vibes, and now the swimwear brands are echoing their efforts. We’re not going to lie, festival season is one of our favorite times of the year, so you can imagine our excitement when the trends started making their way to swimwear.

We’re big suckers for anything tribal, floral or tie-dye—especially when you add some cut-offs, western-style booties and vintage sunnies to the mix. Yes, please!

Some of our favorite festival-inspired trends are the Blue Life Flamingo Tie Dye Flutter Bikini Top, Billabong At Sea One Piece, Betsey Johnson Princess Charming Underwire Bump Me Up Bikini Top and the Maaji Boogie Fever Bikini Top.

Rock on, fashionistas.
