November Interscholastic Coach of the Month Award

Coaches are the backbone of any swim team and frequently the unsung heroes of an athlete’s success. They are the instructors, motivators, teachers and role models for many young athletes and swimmers. That’s why it’s important that partners with organizations like the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA). Every month, we recognize a different coach around the country for their tireless devotion to our sport and its athletes with our Coach of the Month Award.

This month’s Coach of the Month spotlights Hope Normandy, an 18-year coaching veteran at Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, ID. Congrats!

    Name: Hope Normandy
    School: Mountain Home High School
    City: Mountain Home, Idaho
    Years Coaching: 18
Biggest Team Success: Boys and girls team won District meet in '14. Boys have won for 11 years in a row.
Favorite Thing About Coaching: Planning the season, watching the team improve. They have high g.p.a.'s and all work hard to maintain grades, while also being athletes and active in their school activities.
Favorite Drill for Your Team: Richard Quick's drill for turns of 3 strokes and "submerge", it eliminates head lift and leads to powerful on target turns. We practice in a pool without any "black lines" or turn targets.

    Congratulations, Coach Hope!

Check back next month for our next Interscholastic Coach of the Month.
