June Interscholastic Coach of the Month Award

Coaches are the backbone of any swim team. They offer motivation, support, advice, praise and criticism.

Without a swim coach, many swimmers might not have the self-discipline and determination necessary to achieve success.

For that reason, SwimOutlet.com has teamed up with the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) – the organization of high school swim coaches – to celebrate a monthly SwimOutlet.com Interscholastic Coach of the Month Award.

For June, we would like to acknowledge coach William Brubaker from Wheeling, West Virgina who has been a dedicated coach for 35 years!

Name: William Brubaker
School: The Linsly School
City: Wheeling, WV
Years Coaching:
 35
Biggest Team Success: This year's men's team won its 6th straight conference title and the women their 4th. Also, the Linsly Mens and Women's Swim Teams have won the OVAC Swim Conference Small School Championships, 1A - 3A for the past four seasons. There is also a 4A - 5A Division.
Favorite Thing About Coaching: It never stays the same. You have new swimmers coming into a program, who need to learn many things; strokes, turns, etc. You also have returning swimmers who look to improve on what they have done the previous season. You are continually challenged to help your swimmers improve.
Favorite Drill for Your Team: Swimming freestyle with whiffle golf balls held between your thumb and forefinger.

Congratulations, Coach William!
