Interscholastic Coach of the Month Award - June

Coaches are the backbone of any swim team and frequently the unsung heroes of an athlete’s success. They are the instructors, motivators, teachers and role models for many young athletes and swimmers. That’s why it’s important that partners with organizations like the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA). Every month, we recognize a different coach around the country for their tireless devotion to our sport and its athletes with our Coach of the Month Award.

This month’s Coach of the Month spotlights Eric Tillman, a 3-year coaching veteran and team founder at Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT. Congrats!

    Name: Eric Tillman
    School: Brunswick School
    City: Greenwich, CT
    Years Coaching: 3 years
Biggest team success: I founded the program, and after two years stepped aside to allow a more qualified pair of coaches take over. I am still an assistant coach, however. The 2014-15 season was our first in our new pool, and our boys have shown a tremendous amount of improvement in the last couple of years.
    Favorite thing about coaching:
Coaching is all about working with the kids and watching them develop both physically and emotionally
Favorite drill for your team: My favorite drill is sprint work using rubber hoses attached to belts around the swimmers. The kids get a big kick out of using the stuff, and the hoses make them much stronger and more mechanically sound.

    Congratulations, Coach Eric!

Check back next month for July's Interscholastic Coach of the Month recipient.
