Sprinter Caeleb Dressel Joins Team Speedo

We don’t usually write about swimmers signing with swimsuit brands around here at the SwimOutlet.com Blog – but then again, most swimmers don’t nab seven golds at a single World Championships including a jaw-dropping three golds in one evening session.

In fact, the only other athlete to pull off seven gold medals at a World Championships is Michael Phelps, who did it at the 2007 Melbourne Worlds before his record Beijing haul a year later.

But Caeleb Dressel matched that feat in Budapest last year winning the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly to go with four relay titles and cemented his position as one of the most talented swimmers to watch in the lead up to Tokyo.

Last week, Dressel announced that he has signed on with Speedo, the iconic swim brand on a long-term partnership.

“Signing with Speedo USA has been a surreal first step in my professional career,” said Dressel. “The support of Speedo USA and my new Team Speedo USA teammates is going to be incredibly important as I train to reach my goals. I look forward to joining the ranks of the incredible athletes who have worn Speedo when it’s mattered most.”

He’ll presumably be wearing Speedo’s LZR X jammer this summer along with Speedo’s new top-of-the-line suit launched next year for Tokyo.

Dressel’s Tokyo program is anyone’s guess right now, but with the addition of the mixed medley relay, there’s a chance he could make history in the pool. Reminds us of another swimmer that made history when he won seven Olympic golds in Beijing. And what was Phelps wearing when he did? Speedo jammers, caps and goggles!
