The season for backyard BBQs, pool parties, and 3-day weekends full of family, friends, food, and fun is upon us. Whether you decide to keep it simple or go all out, we thought you might like to have a checklist of some pool essentials to keep the party going all summer long!

Pool Floats

You don’t need a pool to go crazy over pool floaties. Dress your backyard space in funky inflatables and start up a garden hose. Kids and adults alike will be forced to have fun when they’re hanging with huge flamingos, pineapples, rubber duckies, and pizza slices.  Inflatable pools are also an option – kids can splash, and parents can cool their feet.

Games

Get a Slip and Slide for hours and hours of fun. If you have enough people, you can rally a game of backyard baseball. Use a pool noodle as a bat, floaties as bases, and a beach ball as your baseball. Brands like Swimline, Poolmaster, and Intex have exciting pool games like basketball, volleyball, ring toss, and dive toys. Adults - get creative and turn any of these into a game with margaritas as the prize!

Kid’s Stuff

Keeping the little ones entertained is crucial for a successful (and relaxing) backyard party. Encourage the older kids and teens to get in the water with “learn to swim” tools like arm floaties, Puddle Jumpers, and lifejackets. Start with kicks while holding on to the wall. Next, blow bubbles underwater. Then, practice big arm circles. Before you know it, they’ll be dying to show mom and dad their new swimming skills.

Towels

Of course, you will need to dry off or sunbathe on a lounger after all this splashing around and no one likes a boring beach towel. Spruce up your towel selection with lively towels from Slowtide, Round Towel Company, and Dohler. Towels double as beach or picnic blankets so get the biggest one for maximum seat capacity. Plus, the bigger the towel, the bigger the backyard lounge chair fort.

Hats

Hats aren’t the most exciting accessory in the world, but on hot sunny days, you’ll be best protected with one atop your head. Having a few extra laying around for both men and women for backyard pool party days will be crucial for your guests. Try a themed party and ask everyone to bring a stylish straw hat, trucker hat, or their favorite resort hat. It will make for great photos and reduce the chance of scalp sunburns.
