Arena Men's Powerskin Carbon Air2 Jammer Tech Suit Swimsuit

This was my son's first tech suit. Recommended by a more experienced team member. He got all personal bests (dropped 7 seconds in his 500 free, a 2.3% drop) even though he was ill at his final meet last championship season. He attributed his time drop solely to this suit (commenting that his energy level/strength were really decreased by the illness). Comfortable fit and high quality material are really a benefit.

I did give it five stars because my only beef with the suit was that he only got 5-6 days of use out of it before it started to feel as if it was no longer providing a speedier slip through the water. And as much as I like to hold on tight to my cash, I do realize that limited usage is in the nature of tech suits. So I did not feel it was fair to reduce a star on my review for my somewhat skewed perception on lack of longevity.

He did decide to purchase the TYR Shockwave Volconyx and the Avictor 2.0 Luminis for this upcoming high school season and club season, after reading the suit guide and comparing to his ideal events/goals. He wanted to try something new.

To be completely honest, although this suit has some downsides—just like any tech suit—it is still my number one pick. It strikes an amazing balance of flexibility, durability, price, and compression, and I am truly impressed. I highly recommend it, especially for swimmers who swim a variety of events. Because of this, I countenance the Carbon Air 2.

The first thing I noticed about the Air 2 is its thin fabric. It is indubitably the thinnest tech suit I have seen on the market which helps improve speed and flexibility and provides a lightweight feel in the water. Unfortunately, its thinness has some downsides too. Although tech suits are known for lasting a ridiculously short amount of time, the Air 2 lasts even less than most. From my personal experience, it will be great for a prelims finals meet, but the difference between before and after that meet is noticeable. Towards the end of the season, the seams started fraying and the Arena logo had completely worn off. It lasted three meets before it needed to be replaced. Still, its lightweight feel and almost arcane and magical design are excellent for racing, even if the durability can stymie some.

Even though the fabric is thin, the Air 2 has surprisingly great compression. Although it has a relatively low amount of carbon (one percent), you can barely tell.
