I LOVE being able to swim by music. A dream come true....
I had the first generation of the H2O interval that enclosed the older iPod shuffle. The ear piece was a big problem since it extended far beyond the ear and did not accommodate a swim cap very well, but I managed. The 2nd generation had the same look but was now equipped with better ear pieces. I waited until H20 produced a case that was compatible with the 3rd/4th generation iPod shuffle. Needless to say, it was worth the wait! The ear pieces stayed in place, and the sound quality is ten times better than the original. People have commented about water getting in and ear pieces falling out. I typically wet the ear plug first, slide it into my ear, and then back it out slightly until I feel slight pressure. Doing this ensures that there is a tight seal. It also helps if you wear a swim cap, so you can tuck the additional wiring and keep the earplugs in place. Don't plan on getting to the pool fussing with the Interval and then experimenting with earplug sizes. As ridiculous as it may sound, try it out in the shower first, and make sure everything fits right and that you are familiar with the operation of the Interval. You'll save yourself some time and frustration.
I am delighted that this product actually worked. The sound quality was excellent. The case is waterproof and is well designed to fit on the goggles strap with a cushion that makes it very comfortable. The only problem I have is getting the ear plugs to stay in, but I need to try different size ear plugs. Still overall its a great product that is well designed and works. The fact that is utilizes a shuffle rather than mp3 player makes it reliable and convenient to load music onto the player. No other mp3 players work as well as MAC products. So product wise having a water proof case for mac products was exactly what I was looking for. Designed to be worn on google straps is a superior design compare with other designs of waterproof compartments that have long wires that get in the way of swimming. If you want to listen to music while you swim laps, I highly recommend it.
I used this during my lap swim this morning and absolutely loved it. I didn't have a problem keeping the earphones in beneath my swim cap. This device is so much nicer than using the waterproof case and armband with my old iPod. This so enhances swimming for me. Worth the money for certain.
THis was my second pair. Makes swimming laps so much more enjoyable. THey work great. I once forgot to close them tightly (and lock them) and they still kept my shuffle dry.Highly recommended!
I've been using the case for simple fitness lap swimming. First, the good news: the earbuds stay in place and the case does an admirable job of keeping the iPod bone dry. The not-so-good news: after the first 125 meters or so, one earbud inevitably goes quiet; usually the one in the ear that is in the water most often when taking a breath. It's not that it has stopped working, but rather that it becomes filled with water which severely dampens the sound. As to the "fit", at first, I had a hard time keeping the case oriented on the back of my head the right way, but seem to have the hang of it now after some experiments with placement. I did notice that my goggles have become almost painfully tight, even after loosening all the way, with the unit clipped in place. I just bought some bungee straps the other day, though, and will give those a try. Overall, I find that the distraction of something other than staring at a black line makes swimming more enjoyable, and even though the muffled earbud is a bit frustrating, it is still something of a marvel to me that I am actually able to listen to my iPod while swimming. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. Worth the purchase. Hope this review was helpful.
