The Taylor Complete Service (FAS-DPD Chlorine) Test Kit is intended for those that are maintaining high-use or multiple pools. It contains more of the reagents than is normally needed to maintain a single pool for a single season. It contains a booklet that explains pool chemistry, a set of dosing charts and how to use them, and covers pools and spas using chlorine and salt sanitation systems. There is a wheel used to help determine how to "balance" the water, but I have not used it yet.The test procedures are given on the inside top of the case. The free chlorine test is done by mixing a powder into the sample, then titrating until it changes color. The combined chlorine test is also done by titration. All other tests use liquids. The total alkalinity, and calcium hardness, and salt tests are also titration tests. The pH test is done by color comparison, as are the acid and base demand tests. The cyanuric acid test is a visibility test. The sample is mixed, then poured (or dripped) into a tube with a black dot at the bottom. When the dot disappears, you check the depth of the sample in the tube to determine the CYA level.
