Arena®'s Swedix Goggle is an updated version of the beloved Swedish goggles. With its split lens and minimalist design, it's perfect for practice and competition.
When I purchased these goggles, I was a little hesitant because there were no reviews yet. Now that I have received them and used them, rest assured that these goggles are awesome! They fit just like normal swedes except instead of hard plastic on the lenses, there is a silicone/rubber barrier between your eyes and the lenses. This is a similar design to the TYR Socket Rocket, but I find these to be more comfortable. Also the anti fog on these goggles is truly better than any other goggles I've used. They come with a nice soft plastic/mesh case which is nice. The split lens design works very well and offers great visibility. Also these goggles come with the string nose piece like the one that comes with the original swedes if you prefer to use that over the elastic nose piece that is pictured.
The first time I used them, I missed the wall on my turn, having nothing to push off from! The visibility was so good, I thought I was closer than I actually was. Didn't take long to adjust. Now I feel like my turns are even better because you can see the wall so clearly without changing your head position, and the turn becomes that much more efficient. The antifog coating is great so far. They are comfortable and seal well without leaks, without a lot of tension, and without horrendous goggle marks around the eyes. However, they are essentially swedes, so if you're not used to them, you might not go for them. The only drawback for me is the price...for a pair of lightly cushioned swedes, the price is pretty high, since besides the specially shaped lenses and the slight amount of silicone gasket, everything else is the regular Swedish goggle, with the simple latex head and nose strap. Oh, and the clip on the head strap is easily adjustable...that's different from the regular swedes. Overall, I'm very pleased with them.
The goggles are fine - but the straps are not. I used these in the dark 5:45 am work outs only, rinsed them, and stored out of sunlight.Nonetheless, the straps only lasted 6 mo before they disintegrated at all the joint points. Arena says, "We do not have replacement straps available for our goggles." SwimOutlet say, "SwimOutlet does not carry replacement parts." GET THIS: "We advise you shopping for a new pair."The bummer of it is that these goggles MUST use thin strapping - look at the picture. See the nose piece and the fiercely tapered strapping holding the lenses together? That's a friction fit. Tremendous stress on the strap as it's squeezed through tiny mm size holes so the strap doesn't slip right out.So, unless you're an infrequent goggle user, or have a stock of the thin rubber strapping material, don't buy these.
Bought these about a year ago from here. As always, Arena does not disappoint. I bought the original Swedes and a pair of Sporti for the free bungee cord. The Arena goggles are so much more comfortable with superior anti-fog capability. The rubber strap is much more elastic and provides a really comfortable fit. It is true that the strap might not last as long as the harder rubber straps on the other ones, but Swedes tend to have less durable straps than traditional goggles anyways. 20 bucks for a pair of Arena is a steal, I will repurchase in a heart beat.
While I can't speak to how long the nose piece strap will last, I was very impressed with these goggles. When I fitted them dry, I didn't quite understand what the big deal was about the split goggle aspect. As soon as I dove in the pool however, it was a revelation. I've been swimming for 40 years, at least half of that competitively, and it was so bizarre having the up/down vision these goggles give you. I naturally relaxed my head and was able to see my stroke out front when I was doing drills and wanting to check out my hand and elbow position. Flip turns took some getting used to however so I certainly wouldn't use these for the first time on race day.
Best visibility I've seen out of goggles in 30 years of swimming competitively. Very comfortable, as well. Low profile helps on racing starts.
These Swedix goggles are interesting. I didn't necessarily get them for the "bi-focal" aspect, but more for the low profile and inner socket fit. However, they do have superior forward vision. I keep a very neutral head position (not forward looking, not buried.. right in line). I got used to the bi-focal line very easily and appreciate the forward view. I noticed the forward vision more so when I tried a different pair (TYR Swedish Lo Pro) afterwards. I like both pair, the TYR are very comfortable, but the Arena Swedix have much better view. It was a little odd seeing my feet so well on flip turns and the angle change took a little getting used to when you first submerge. But, once underwater, nothing strange, just nice forward and side vision.
I've used many swedish types & these really are the best. The vision on these is sooo much better - the anti-fog is the best I've ever experienced & the angled upper part gives you a window to the whole pool in front of you. It's such a difference - almost like going from no goggles to wearing goggles. If you like swedes, buy them - you'll be happy you did.
these goggles are great, i was afraid because they have a division in the middle, some people they don't like have anything in front the eyesbut at the moment that you are swimming you do not notice that line.Very confortable, and elegant design. The only cons about this product is the strap., the quality for me is very cheap., I switched the original strap with the bungee strap and its work perfectly. For the nose adjustment I put different rubber strap (thicker than the original), and work wonderful.
i bought these goggles because i have loved arena for awhile now. and i was always a fan of the TYR version. the split screen lens are very cool. they only work while you are in the water. you might get light headed or dizzy the first couple times you wear them. but this goes away very fast. i would recommend these goggles to anyone who likes socket rockets, or swedish goggles!!!
