Win a Beach Prize Pack! Top 5 Countries with Beach Culture

October 07, 2015 | By

We all love the beach – especially here at SwimOutlet.com where swimming and the ocean is part of our every day business.

We were discussing our favorite beaches around the world at the office recently and were asking ourselves: which country overall has the best beaches? So we decided to make a quick list of the countries with the best beach culture in the world.

Tell us which country you think is missing from this list and you will be entered to win a beach prize pack including a Cressi Snorkel Set, a beach towel and a sun hat.

5. Mexico – Mexico’s diversity of beach locations and numerous beach resorts and beach cities up and down the country’s coasts land it comfortably at No. 5 on this list. With world class beaches on Baja California, the Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of California, as well as both the Pacific and Caribbean Sea, Mexico boasts all types of beach settings. The country that gave the world margaritas and fish tacos is a top beach culture in our book!

4. Spain – Spain is the only European country on this list and deservedly so – it’s the place where Europeans travel for their beach holidays. Spain has arguably one of the best beach cities in the world in Barcelona and its beach regions are so popular they have their own geographic names like the famous Costa Blanca, Costa Brava or Costa de la Luz. And it helps to have islands like Ibiza, Mallorca and the Canaries for beach variety. Get your paella and siesta on and hit the Spanish beaches in 2016!

3. United States – The good ole’ U.S. doesn’t have a dominant national beach culture in and of itself, but several of our states could make it on this list on their own: Hawaii, Florida and California. When you are home to the origins of beach culture (California), the birthplace of surfing (Hawaii) and some of the most beautiful stretches of white sand in the world (Florida), you’re a lock to make this list.

2. Australia – In a country where 85% of the population lives within 30 miles of the ocean, you’re bound to develop a vibrant beach culture. Australia has given us iconic surf brands like Billabong and Quiksilver; throw in world famous sights like the Great Barrier Reef, Bondi Beach in Sydney and Frasier Island, world’s largest sand island, and it would be easy to move Down Under and become a beach bum for life!

1. Brazil – Rio de Janeiro’s best beaches are arguably the most famous beaches in the world: Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. But those are just tiny specs along Brazil’s incredible 4,650 miles of coastline – all in warm tropical environments. But it’s the Brazilian beach way of life that has us hooked: beach volleyball, beach soccer, samba music, fresh coconut water and the annual Carnival spectacle that is world’s biggest beach party. Obrigado Brazil!

Tell us which country you think is missing from this list and you will be entered to win a beach prize pack including a Cressi Snorkel Set, a beach towel, and a sun hat. [One entry per person. Must enter by 11:59pm PT on October 14. One winner selected at random.]
