SwimOutlet.com Becomes First Swim Retailer to Launch Crowd-sourced Style Gallery
San Jose, CA (May 5, 2014) – SwimOutlet.com, the web’s most popular swim shop, launched its #SwimOutlet Style Showcase this week, becoming the first swim retailer to implement a crowd-sourced photo curated gallery. In the Style Showcase, engaged visitors upload and share photos of their performance swimsuits, fashion suits, beach style and accessories. The style showcase features photos of real people for those on the hunt for real-life inspiration, whether for the pool or the beach Shoppers can also get interactive with the submissions by pinning and sharing through other social networks.
The #SwimOutlet Style Showcase is part of the latest trend of incorporating social commerce as a way to curate imagery and provide a “style storyboard” for the consumer, allowingcustomers to engagewith the product in a more real and organic sense, rather then browsing stock model photography.
“Customer-generated style photos are the way to go in a world increasingly dominated by Instagram and the like, even for a more sports-specific retailer,” said Alexander Sienkiewicz, Chief Marketing Officer at Spiraledge, Inc. “Fitness and fashion are no longer two unique separate verticals. Some competitive swimmers are just as concerned about their style as the summer beach goer. We’re pleased to tap into this social commerce trend with the launch of the #SwimOutlet Style Showcase. ”
For an e-commerce retailer that is already the dominant player in the performance swimwear market, foraying futherinto fashion swim and active wear is an easy segue. It’s fashionable to be fit. This fashion-initiative concept continues to highlight the retailer’s growth into fashion swim and fitness, while also providing social media engagement.
The nation’s biggest online aquatics retailer was chosen as an Internet Retailer Top 300 Social Media earlier this year and launched its first-ever site redesign in April. The Style Showcase is part of SwimOutlet.com’s latest site redesign roll-out efforts. The modern aesthetic and larger screen real-estate has allowed SwimOutlet.com to further innovate on its existing features. “The style gallery is our latest new feature on our redesigned site. With the showcase, it’s great to have customers be our models, style setters and tastemakers,” added Sienkiewicz.
