The philosophy of the Rusty brand is all about surfing. Named after founder and surfer Rusty Preisendorfer. Rusty grew up surfing in the San Diego area and began shaping boards by the early 1970s. Rusty expanded its collection to apparel at the January Surf Expo in 1987, where its R-Dot logo became a widely recognizable symbol throughout the surf world. Rusty's fresh look at the youth market is one of the reasons it has remained a leader in the industry for so long. Even after all of the growth Rusty Preisendorfer's business has seen in the last twenty years, it still comes down to what's happening in the shaping bay and in the water.
