In the fall of 1983, after 13 years of bike racing around the globe (winning the Canadian Championship in individual pursuit), French Canadian Louis Garneau set to work in his father's garage manufacturing cycling clothes. In 1984, after participating in the Los Angeles Olympic Games, the manager-owner decided to leave active competition and turn to business. With extensive experience in cycling, Luis Garneau was well aware of cyclists' specific needs, and his team endeavored to develop a range of original and comfortable clothing that can be offered at competitive prices. After establishing a successful bicycle accessories business, Louis Garneau decided to further contribute to the developments of the cycling community by creating the Velodrome Louis-Garneau and the BMX track near the company's headquarters in St. Augustine, Florida. Louis Garneau also develops new talents by providing them the equipment and infrastructure to succeed. Louis Garneau believes that cycling is not only a business or a sport, but a thriving kinship of people and places. |
