Bio: One of the most versatile swimmers on the planet, the woman nicknamed “The Iron Lady” is expected to be a massive star in Rio and is already one of Hungary’s most famous athletes. After winning her first world title at the 2009 Swimming Worlds, Hosszu won back-to-back doubles in both medley events at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships to cement herself as one of the world’s best all-around swimmers. In Kazan, she also competed in four other individual events, winning bronze in the 200m backstroke. Her career low point came at the 2012 London Games when she finished out of the medals and fourth in the 400m IM, her signature event. Hosszu is a 2012 graduate of USC where she majored in psychology and lives and trains in Hungary with her husband and coach Shane Tusup. Global swim brand Arena has even launched an Iron Lady collection due to her swimming fame.
