Feels snug, great, but the center seams are bulky and abrasive during a workout, not noticed at the time but afterwards (2 uses) I registered stinging in the crack near my coccyx and anus. Ouch. Stopped using and will order medium next time for sure.

Good paddling shorts. Not too slick or sticky in my surfski, allowing a good rotation. I will wear these for swimming also.

I use these shorts for lap swimming in an outdoor pool. They work better than board shorts in terms of warmth and reduced drag. Plus the additional bouancy at the hips helps you to maintain good form in the pool. I have a 35" waist, the Large fits snug, as it should. This is my second pair of Xcels; the first pair is badly faded after about a year in chlorine, and it's a little looser, but still very serviceable.
