  • 7/18/2011 Great Quality But Not For Everyday Use

    4 Review Stars By Chris

I recently purchased water polo suits, including TYR, Nike and Speedo.  All were very good suits.  For the TYR, the quality of the workmanship, namely how well was it sewn together was superior.  All seams are quadruple stiched and it has a above average quality zipper.  The fabric is a nylon blend,  is a heavier weight than its competitors, and advertised as chlorine resistant.  Unfortunately, after wearing it five times a week for a month, the spandex is starting to disintegrate along the back zipper despite thorough rinsings after swimming.  I will note that I believe the chlorine level is on the high side at the pool.  Therefore this water polo suit might be best suited as a game-day suit.  Leave the practices to to a poly-blend suit.

  • 10/4/2007 New style fabric, very good waterpolo suit

4 Review Stars By Polly Peterson

This suit is made from a new style of woven fabric that is high strength and has good stretch in all directions. The material is very strong and the styling is attractive. Wide shoulder straps make for a comfortable fit, this suit can be downsized for a competition edge. The zipper is rugged, not your weak coil type of zipper. This has proven to be a long lasting, good looking suit with high neck and maximum coverage. Both the black and navy colors look good.

  • 6/19/2011 Wears out WAY too quickly

    1 Review Stars By Shannon

This is fine if you practice twice a week and don't use in games but if you practice every day this suit is not good, it wears out wayy too quickly, is easy to grab, and becomes so loose it can be embarrassing. Don't ever buy a nylon suit... :/ and if you do, save yourself the embarrassment and do not wear it in a game...

4 Review Stars By Robert T.

Bought this and a Nike water polo suit for wife for Valentines.... she likes high neck suits... thinks they are a little warmer as she is an exercise swimmer.  Sent back the Tyr and hoping to exchange (plus a few bucks) for another nike in black which is shown temporarily out of stock.  what will returns do?

  • 10/10/2010 Update on Predator

    4 Review Stars By Peggy

Perfect for playing with children, laps, aqua jogging, and probably even water polo. Zipper  extremely difficult to grab. Greatest thing is the fit.
Worst thing is this suit wears out VERY quickly.  Using daily in chlorinated pool, going through one per month may be expected.

5 Review Stars By Stacy D.

I love the water polo suits made out of polyester.  I love how they never wear out!  They are just about bullet proof!   When I swim my laps I feel like I'm going faster!  What can I say it is just wonderful!

ABOUT THIS BRAND

TYR

Founded in Southern California in 1985, TYR™ has since developed a reputation for high-quality products and equipment. TYR competition swimwear and triathlon gear have been a dominant force in their respective industries. The company is also known for its TYR goggles, swim apparel, triathlon wetsuits and a wide variety of swimming equipment.

TYR was the first company to introduce a pair of goggles designed to fit a woman's face (the TYR T-72). TYR was also responsible for the famous red bathing suits featured on the hit television series "Baywatch." TYR consults with current and former athletes when developing its products. Swimmers know that TYR is a leader in swimsuits, warm-up suits, and swim training equipment. The TYR Tracer Series is one of the most advanced technical suit lines on the market. The TYR Hurricane wetsuits and the TYR Torque collections include top-of-the-line suits for the competitive swimmer.

TYR has also moved into competitive running equipment. From running shirts to shorts, its apparel is designed with the runner in mind. Built with moisture wicking fabric and antimicrobial material, TYR running apparel is designed to give the athlete the most comfortable, dry clothing on the market.

The name "TYR" is derived from the Norse god of warriors, who is said to have embodied victory and glory. Much the same can be said about the athletes who started TYR. Executive Vice President, Steve Furniss, was an Olympian who competed in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Games, and captained the 76th U.S. Olympic Swim Team.
