Swim paddles have changed and increased in size over the last few years and I was looking for some that would be at least a bit similar to the ones I had a few years ago which disappeared from poolside one day. These were the closest I could find and I'm fairly happy with them. I bought a size smaller than was recommended on the website going according to glove size, and I'm very glad I did. I definitely wouldn't want them any larger. They are nice to use and one smart feature is the small holes in the palm area so you can feel the water streaming through and judge how effective your stroke is.

They work well, once you spend some time tightening the straps. I bought small and I have very small hands so they were still too loose but that was easily fixed by the lifeguards for me. They are lightweight and fit snugly when tightened.
The curve, which I like because I have arthritis in my hands are probably not for a younger swimmer, since the flat ones force your hands to move the correct way through the water. I will try the flat ones next but I do love the curve as it gives my hands muscle memory to remain curved while taking laps.

I bought these to replace my 25-year-old solid plastic swim paddles that really give the pecs a run for their money. Because these looked small, with holes, they seemed more "innocent". Boy was I wrong! On the plus side, I like the curved contour although they're a bit big for my hands and I'm unable to adjust the straps (they just don't pull). Perhaps I'm not yet used to them, but they seem to be an even tougher work out than my old, huge paddles which baffles me. I suggest taking these slow....

Wish they were available in small, but they work well.
