Lane Lines to Shore Lines

Specializing in open water swims, Gary Emich provides the skills and information needed to get out of the pool and into the open water safely. With his books, DVDs and one -on one-training sessions, Emich can get any swimmer into the open water confidently.

Emich’s love affair with the ocean began in 1956 when he witnessed someone landing a 10-foot bull shark off of the Ft. Lauderdale Pier and hauling it to shore. But, Emich truly discovered the art of open water swimming when he moved to San Francisco in 1990 and saw a group from the South End Rowing Club swimming in Aquatic Park. Since then, Emich has never looked at a body of water without analyzing its swimming potential and this perspective has manifested itself into several open water swims around the world.

Emich has since obtained certification as an American Swimming Coaches Association Coach (Level 2), USA Triathlon Coach (Level 1) and a USA Triathlon Race Director.
