    Answer this question
  • What, exactly, is this mat made of?

All of the PRO Series mats are made of PVC and Polyester. The top and bottom surfaces are an Oeko Tex certified PVC and the middle layer is a thin fabric scrim, made of polyester that keeps the mat from stretching too much. However, the PVC and other proprietary ingredients in these mats are completely non-toxic.

  • 6/1/2020 The Perfect Yoga Mat!

5 Review Stars By Jenny G.

I purchased there because my old yoga mat started pilling. Since having my first yoga mat I now understand the importance of investing on a good one. This is perfect! It is durable, easy to clean, and made with solid material.

  • 3/20/2020 Thunder color nowhere near the picture on line

    2 Review Stars By Vena

Manduka mats are great. So that's the truth but the color of the mat on line called "thunder" is literally 3 shades lighter. It's nothing like the real time color. It's more of a dark spruce. FYI. Super disappointed after investing $110.

Have 'broken in' mat and used a few times. Really is nice and makes a difference in my practice.

  • 7/3/2018 Great for us tall folks!

    5 Review Stars By Sarah

I was already using a standard ProLite (amazing durability after 3 years of weekly Bikram, Hot Pitales & Yin use) so I knew I'd probably love this one, but at my height of 6'1" the extra length on this mat reaaaaally makes a difference! I don't even mind that my towels for hot yoga don't cover it entirely, they cover the important stuff and if I want I can put a hand towel under my feet.

  • 9/11/2016 Great Mat

    5 Review Stars By Pdegs

Half the weight of the Pro  mat.
I'm 6' 3" so the 79" length is long enough that my feet or  face don't touch the floor.
    (the Pro is 84" long.)
Because the mat is nonporous, you can wipe it down & it doesn't smell.
I do hot yoga so I use the "Gaiam Athletic Yoga maxTowel" on top, they work well together.
The mat seems to get better with age.

The only disadvantage is I would have preferred if the mat was a little wider.
(The Prolite is 24" wide, the Pro is 26" wide.) Maybe they did this to save weight.
This mat is definitely worth the investment!
I use to go through a mat a year, this may be the last mat I ever buy.

Love this mat!  Thin, lightweight nice length! I used it at home for a few weeks to break it in. Fabulous for Vinyasa flow.

About This Brand

Manduka

Founded at the turn of the millennium, Manduka® has always been a company that put its customers and the environment above all else. Peter Sterios, an architect turned yogi, stumbled upon a simple, yet elegantly created mat that completely revolutionized the way he practiced yoga. This revelation was the inspiration for the whole Manduka yoga line.

Sterios' creation would not have been possible without the help of his generous yoga teachers. As a form of appreciation he sent a mat to many of the yoga teachers he admired including Rod Stryker, Erich Schiffmann, Victor Van Kooten, Angela Farmer, Rodney Yee, and Shiva Rea. As a traditional practice in yoga, these teachers shared these mats with their students and from there the word spread.

Manduka, derived from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika pose, Mandukasana, is named as a tribute to Sterios' yoga mentor, Shandor Remete. The delight he took in hearing the word roll of his tongue helped him solidify the faith he had in his new company. From there the joy has spread to over 35 countries worldwide.

More than anything though, Manduka's commitment to quality and sustainability is unmatched in the yoga industry. Every detail and every decision is made with sustainability in mind. Manduka wants their customers to not only find peace with themselves, but their environment as well. Products like the Manduka eKO Lite Yoga mat, the eQua Hot Yoga Towel, demonstrate just how committed they are to sustainability.

Manduka understands that yogis of all levels come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share similar core values. Beyond just being eco-friendly, is the spirit and wisdom that yoga teachers and their students emanate. Yoga is more than just exercise on a mat, it's a way of life. Manduka embraces this idea and lets it shine through all their yoga products.
