The 400 cycling shoe has construction and quality control issues. Background: I have owned two pair of LG 300 triathlon cycling shoes and I have been very satisfied with their performance I cannot say the same about the LG 400. I ordered the LG 400 as a replacement for my LG 300 and I thought it would be an improvement. There are several design differences (wire front closure, open top, different mesh etc.) and, although I don't necessarily see them as a significant improvement, I had no problem with them. HOWEVER, when I put the shoes on I saw that the velcro strip, that was supposed to be sewn into the shoe to hold the closure strap such that the shoe was open for easy entry, was NOT attached to the shoe. It is either cut too short or their process is wrong. Figuring it was a one time mistake I ordered another pair and sent the first pair back. When I received the second pair they had the same defect. This represents a problem with either their design (trying to save a bit by using a small piece of velcro) or their manufacturing process (machines not setup and adjusted correctly). Either way I do not recommend these shoes. (But if you can find a pair of the LG 300s buy 'em.)
