  • 10/20/2013 super comfy and organic

i love blue canoe and when i found them hear on sale i bought two colors. i am very tiny (a cup) and still have to have the straps adjusted and the sides taken in. but i love the comfort and softness of organic cotton so it is worth it to me. also, the softness of the material does not make it very supportive, so may now be a good idea for larger women or intense activity. yes, i highly recommend.

Blue Canoe

Blue Canoe traces its beginnings to a small, whimsical cottage located in the middle of a redwood grove in Northern California. The cottage was bursting at the seams with sewing machines, fabrics, and colorful dyes. The redwood cottage acted as a workshop for four women who all had dreams of starting their own clothing lines. It was here at this cottage that Laurie Dunlap created Blue Canoe.

Laurie Dunlap started her business from the ground up and handled every aspect on her own. This meant purchasing all of her own fabric, designing patterns, dyeing garments, and marketing her items at craft fairs. The first item she designed was a comfortable two-piece swimsuit. The swimsuit proved to be a hit among customers. Her clothing line reached new heights when she realized people were buying her swimsuit top to wear as a bra. As people found more uses for her swimsuits, she expanded her collection to reflect the needs of her customers.

Wanting to help the environment, Dunlap started making her products with organically-grown cotton. She soon became known as a pioneer in the clothing world for using organic fabrics. Ever since, Blue Canoe has remained a strong, organic company that has persisted for over a decade. The clothing line has expanded to include European-quality active wear, casual wear, lingerie, and loungewear.
