High quality but bizarre lengths
This is my third pair of Beyond Yoga leggings. I have leggings in the cropped, long, and midi lengths. Since I have been wearing and practicing in the other two pairs for over a year I feel like I have a good idea on the quality / longevity of these leggings. For reference, I wear a Large in any other fitness bottoms (Athleta, Old Navy, Jockey, etc.). I am 5'7" and I do not feel like I have legs that are longer or shorter than average.
- The fabric of these leggings is quite soft and is opaque. I am very particular in the fabrics that I like to wear and I do not like anything that is "swimsuit fabric", shiny, slippery, feels cold to the touch, etc. This is a brushed cottony feel and is thick. It has held up well over many washings over a few years. It has not pilled and it does not show sweat (in the black).
- The high rise is great. They stay up pretty well and are not too tight at the waist.
- Sizing is typical of "luxury" yoga brands, where everything runs a size smaller than the rest of the world. I will never understand this.
- Price (though I am willing to pay $$ for leggings if they fit well)
The biggest negative, however, is the wacky lengths that these come in. I have the same style of these leggings in the cropped length, which hit me mid-calf. This was an OK length for me, but in the winter these are too short. I wanted to get some longer leggings of this same style. My second pair of BY leggings was of the spacedye variety and were the long length, and they were on clearance. The images on the models show that these are hitting at the ankle bone. I am not sure if the models are 7' tall but these were laughably long. I have never had to order short length pants or leggings in my life, and these were so long that they went under my heel and to my toes. I know this is a 'look" but I had to cuff them to get them above my ankle. I have since had them altered- not something I would normally do with expensive leggings but these were on clearance and could not be returned. I assumed that the long length was supposed to be for people that like having them below their heel (again, this is not shown in the images and the inseam is not available on the BY website). I then thought that the midi length would be more like a long length for average-height people. Not only are they again too long, but the ankle opening is quite tight and uncomfortable. I've laid them out against the other BY leggings I have (the crops, and the altered spacedye ones that are at a true 7/8 length) and these are easily 3-4" too long.
If BY makes a length in between the cropped and the midi, that will probably be a great length for me and many other people. I could alter these but I should not have to do that for $90 leggings.
