Adi Dassler had a dream to make the best sport shoes possible. Since its humble beginnings in 1920, the adidas brand has followed three guiding principles in development: To product the best shoe to serve the needs of the sport, protect the athlete from injury, and to make the product durable. In 1928, adidas made its first Olympic debut in Amsterdam. Adi worked closely with professional athletes to optimize the quality of the shoes and provide the best possible support for "his" athletes in Amsterdam.
In 1978, adidas developed a light trekking shoe for Reinhold Messner's Mount Everest expedition. Following its development, the goal of the adidas brand was to provide Outdoor athletes with products that enable them to push the limits and achieve their personal best.
Outdoor athletes such as Thomas and Alexander Huber, Bernd Zangerl, Beat Kammerlander, the DAV Summit Club, Barbara Zangerl, Michi Aschaber have since then joined the adidas Outdoor family. adidas has supported them and numerous other athletes in pursuing their passion and continues to produce high-quality, durable, sport-specific gear for outdoor enthusiasts.
