10 Fashion Swimwear Trends for 2019

By now, you have probably seen many of these trends on hangers at stores, in boutique windows or on your favorite Instagram influencers. Spring is (officially) here – the clocks have moved forward an hour. So, if you haven’t picked out new swimwear for your warm weather vacation plans, here are a few trending options to consider this season.

Leopard, Zebra and Cheetah, Oh My!
Animal prints have made a return. This is one of those trends that always seems to make a comeback – and we aren’t mad about it. Stone Fox Swim knows what we’re talking about. The best part about this look is that you can mix and match animal prints with just about anything: black, red, denim, neon. Go ahead, give it a try! Rawr.

Keyholes and Cutouts
In 2018, we saw this trend peekaboo its way onto runways and into closets. Now everyone is starting to catch on. Swimsuit designers, like Indah, are finding more way to incorporate slits and cuts, keyholes, and cutouts into the most stylish places so you can show more skin without wearing less.

Retro Vibes
Everything from high waistlines to high cut legs, contrast paneling and paisleys, to vintage prints reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s, retro vibes are here to stay. With so many pairing options from Eidon or Body Glove, you can go from beach to the bar to badminton with your bestie.

Can You Knot?
The knotted trend is widespread, showing up on one-pieces, bikinis, swim dresses, tankinis, and even casual tops and dresses. Often accompanied by cutouts and strappy details, the knot often draws the eye in and flatters the figure. Pro-tip: look for the real knot, opposed to a faux, so you can adjust your style as needed.

Let’s Talk Texture
Ribbed and smocked swimwear is taking this season by storm. Simple solids are transforming into textured staples and patterns are popping when printed over the sweet rib. L-Space would certainly agree. Take this trend past the swim scene and rock your textured one-piece as a body suit to your next concert or happy hour.

Ruffles Here, Ruffles There, Ruffles Everywhere
Feminine, fun, and flirty, ruffles are showing up on nearly every swimsuit style in 2019. Off the shoulder tops, skirted swim bottoms, and plunging V-neck one pieces look especially flattering with ruffles. Nothing says “hey, girl hey” like ruffled edges. Shop Carmen Marc Valvo, Kenneth Cole Reaction, or Profile by Gottex for your ruffle fix.

Stellar Stripes
Classic prints and timeless brands like Polo Ralph Lauren never go out of style! Whether your stripes go up and down, side to side, or at an angel, the century old myth about stripes being unflattering is false. Stripes can slenderize and give the illusion of length – just make sure to stripe a pose when strutting along the beach this summer.

Pretty in Polka Dots
Not all polka dots were created equal, and so we must choose wisely. For a classic, Betsey Johnson, pin up look, try mixing your dots with stripes or lace on a sweetheart neckline. For a more modern look, go bold and get your dots on a bandeau or off-the-shoulder neckline in a deep color like green or purple.

Reversible
We can’t help but love a two-for-one deal. With endless mix and match options, reversible swimsuits are perfect for weekend beach trips, vacations, and other “pack light” scenarios. More room in your duffle means more souvenirs (or wine). Some brands like Maaji even have four-in-one swimsuits that can be work inside out and backwards for a quadrupled beauty bargain.

Forever Florals
Banana leaf palms, tropical hawaiian flowers, brightly colored daisy’s and placement petals – florals are in bloom this Spring and will surely carry on into Summer. This botanic trend is perfect for your romantic resort getaway or bachelorette pool party. Check out the florals from Nanette Lepore if you love embellishments or embroidery for eye-catching flowery fun.
