I wish I'd have read the line "The opening around the ankle has a zig-zag stitch" -- yes, the opening is around the foot part of the ankle.  This is a water SHOE not a boot.  The quality is fine.  The sole looks appropriate for gripping the board.  Hope they don't fall off...
